It has been a while since I last went to Cromer and as the weather has been more like summer the last few days, I decided to take a drive there. I have recently purchased a new camera, the Sony A7II and thought I would see how it compared to my other Sony A6000 and A77II cameras.
I decided to leave a bit earlier than usual this morning to go to work as the last few days I have missed out on some fantastic sunrises. I cycle to work every day and I always go over the Heaven Bridge in Great Yarmouth. I happen to live in Great Yarmouth and I don’t really ever seem to photograph it.
I took a visit to How Hill this evening to get some photos of the Turf Fen Windmill at sunset. At this time of the year the sun sets behind the windmill. I walked along the bank of the River Ant until I found a good vantage point without getting any boats in my shots.
Finding the right combination of weather, tide and astrological conditions to capture the sky reflecting on the wet sand at Cromer is a challenge. Most of the times I have been to Cromer, I have been out of luck with the weather, tides being too high or the sun being in the wrong place.
What I thought was going to a clear evening at Thurne turned out to be a partially cloudy evening instead. As the sun started to set the low level clouds started to get darker and with the rays of sunlight shining through all added to make the scene look very dramatic.
