I took a visit to How Hill this evening to get some photos of the Turf Fen Windmill at sunset. At this time of the year the sun sets behind the windmill. I walked along the bank of the River Ant until I found a good vantage point without getting any boats in my shots.
At this time of year there are many boats moored up, so trying to get a shot of the windmill without getting part of a boat in the shot can be a bit of a challenge. Luckily tonight, there were no boats moored in front of the windmill giving clear line of sight.
I managed to get a few shots at different angles just before the sun went down. The water in the river was really calm which resulted in some great reflections. The only downside is I wish I had taken my wide angle lens to get some shots of the windmill reflecting in the water in a landscape orientation.
On my way back the sky turned a really intense magenta colour and as the waters near the boathouse were really calm in the river, I snapped some fantastic reflections shots. From the boathouse I kept walking along the river bank until I got to the Skeleton Windmill where I captured it at last light.
